Any casting flaws that would be large enough to be identified by an indicator would be filled with metal putty before final lapping and offered at a greater discount.

The low profile Nano-Tram Base will work with or without a riser on your Sherline® Mill and clears many machine tool accessories, however, this tool will not clear some of the taller machine tool accessories such as an adjustable right angle plate. NANO-TRAM TOP - TAIG® - Purchase this Item

Nano-Tram top with 3/4-16 internal thread for Taig® Mill. Spindle, threads and boss perpendicular to face .0002”. Diameter 3.75"; Material 6061-T6 Aluminum, hard black anodize.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE: 1. Remove and check for damage in shipping. If damaged, please call 303-991-1500.
2. Remove vise from mill and clean machine table, removing all chips, debris, etc. With your bare hand, check the area of the mill table to be trammed for nicks, burrs, or any other defects. If any are present, they MUST be removed. This is usually done with a medium to fine grit oilstone.
3. Remove any tool that may be in spindle of mill. Clean circular register above the threads of the spindle and check for nicks on register. If any are present, they must be removed.
4. Thread Nano-Tram top onto ¾-16 thread of the spindle and snug. With tool mounted in spindle, bring the face down until it makes contact with the table of the mill. Slightly loosen clamping screws on head of the mill. Make face of the Nano-Tram flush with table of mill and tighten clamping screws on head of mill.
5. Final adjustments can be made by inserting a piece of paper between the mill table and the Nano-Tram top, then gently moving the paper from side to side to find contact points between Nano-Tram top and mill table. A .001” feeler gage may also be used.

HOW RUGGED AND STABLE ARE THESE TOOLS?

Extremely rugged and stable. We use only the best iron suited for these tools. This is a silicon-manganese based iron that is poured in the United States. The silicon imparts stability during the cooling and stress relieving processes. Manganese gives these tools their strength. Occasionally, we have the opportunity to check these tools in house to see if they are still in tolerance - after years of use, 1 tool out of 30 that we have checked was out of tolerance by .0002". The tool was relapped, brought back into tolerance, cleaned up and returned to the customer.

We have also performed drop tests on these tools from bench heights of 32". In all cases, these tools remained within our guaranteed specifications.
