Those nasty little knobs loading up your file that you can't get out with a file brush can be easily removed with a piece of square or rectangular aluminum or brass stock. I use a piece of brass that is 1/2" x 1/2" x 10" long. Procedure: with one hand, hold the file down flat on a wooden work bench. With the other hand, place an edge of your brass or aluminum cleaner down on the file surface at a 45°angle and push in the direction of the cut, the knobs pop right out. Using aluminum or brass will not dull your file. I strongly caution against using a powered wire wheel as this WILL dull your file.
